The world’s leading corporate reputation study concludes that reputation is no longer created solely by companies—it is now co-created by employees, customers, creators, communities, and increasingly, artificial intelligence.
“Reputation Is Now Multiplayer”
The report introduces a powerful new concept:
“Reputation is now multiplayer.”
Corporate communications are no longer a top-down process.
Instead, reputation is shaped by thousands of independent voices across digital communities, employee networks, customer experiences, and AI-generated responses. The stakeholders companies once tried to influence are now actively shaping public perception themselves.

Artificial Intelligence Is Now a Reputation Channel
For the first time in its history, RepTrak measured Generative AI as a standalone communication channel.
The findings are striking.
Although AI ranks only 11th out of 14 channels in reach, it already ranks 7th in reputation impact, outperforming email, social media, traditional advertising, television, and news media.
Unlike traditional channels, AI does not simply repeat corporate messages.
Instead, it synthesizes information from employees, customers, journalists, communities, and every publicly available source to answer users’ questions.
As the report explains:
“AI amplifies what stakeholders collectively say—not what companies simply claim.”
The World’s Most Reputable Companies in 2026

- LEGO Group
- adidas
- Samsung
- Rolex
- Sony
- Ferrari
- Mercedes-Benz
- Levi Strauss & Co.
- Barilla

adidas vs. Nike: A Reputation Strategy Case Study
One of the report’s strongest examples compares adidas and Nike.
Between 2024 and 2026:
- adidas climbed from #16 to #2 globally.
- Nike fell from #21 to #50.
According to RepTrak, adidas invested heavily in creator communities, cultural collaborations, user-generated content, and platforms such as Roblox—allowing stakeholders to shape the brand narrative organically.
Nike, by contrast, relied more heavily on controlling its own sales channels and brand ecosystem.
The result was a widening reputation gap driven not by advertising, but by community trust and independent advocacy.
Trust Is Built Through Behavior, Not Campaigns
The report highlights that the fastest-growing reputation drivers are:
- Ethical Conduct
- Workplace Experience
- Citizenship
- Leadership Credibility
These are qualities stakeholders evaluate through observation and shared experience—not through marketing campaigns.
A New Leadership Challenge
The 2026 Global RepTrak 100 sends a clear message to CEOs and corporate leaders:
In the AI era, companies no longer control their reputation.
Their communities do.
Organizations that consistently align their actions with their values—and empower employees, customers, and partners to tell authentic stories—will earn stronger trust, greater resilience, and a lasting competitive advantage.
As Generative AI becomes an increasingly important source of business information, authentic stakeholder experiences are becoming more valuable than any corporate communication strategy.
